CORE 2.0

CORE 2.0

In order to address today’s most pressing leadership challenges, an exciting reboot of CORE will formally launch in October 2019.

The CORE competencies will remain intact, but newly designed instructor-led and online courses will be added to better meet the varied learning and scheduling needs of staff and faculty members.  A carefully curated selection of LinkedIn Learning courses will also be available to participants to further expand learning opportunities.

CORE Certification 2020

Beginning in January 2020, CORE certification will encompass the former CORE Leader and CORE AP (Administrative Professionals) tracks.  (Click here to see the current certification track descriptions).  Tailored course sequences will replace the previous specialization tracks to allow for optimal flexibility in designing a course of study that aligns with participants’ unique performance and professional development goals.

The CORE competencies will remain intact, but newly designed instructor-led and online courses will be added to better meet the varied learning and scheduling needs of staff and faculty members.

Current CORE participants may continue to follow current certification tracks and requirements, but can also choose to take advantage of new instructor-led and online course offerings.

Balanced Competencies Sequence

The following sequence is recommended for individuals who want broad based professional development and a balance of courses across the five CORE competencies.

Specialized Interests and Tailored Learning Plans

New courses focused on the unique performance demands of administrative office professionals and those aspiring to move into positions of supervisory leadership are being added to course selections.  Each participant will be encouraged to develop a learning development plan to help guide course selection and better ensure that chosen courses will help advance personal and/or career development goals.

Leadership Sequence

CORE participants who are “people leaders” and desire a higher concentration of leadership courses are encouraged to explore our new Supervisor Seminar Series,  Leading at Wake. In addition to traditional in-person and online Leadership offerings, courses with a significant experiential component (e.g., individual and 360 assessment opportunities, “real-play” learning exercises) will be added to deepen the learning experience and increase the ease of translation of content to participants.
