Data Carpentry for Social Sciences

  1. Friday, February 21st, 20202:00pm - 4:00pm

A critical part of data workflows is preparing your research data for analysis. Some of this involves data cleaning, in which errors in the data are identified and corrected and formatting is made consistent. OpenRefine (formerly Google Refine) is a powerful, free, and open-source tool for working with messy data. Employing a tool like OpenRefine for data cleanup saves both time and effort. This workshop, which is designed for social scientists, will explore ways to use OpenRefine to effectively clean and format data while keeping track of the changes you make.
