VoiceThread: Basics

  1. Tuesday, October 1st, 20193:30pm - 4:30pm

Voicethread is web based software that allows you to have an online conversation around multimedia. You can present slides, video, or images, then comment on them using text, file upload, phone, webcam, or microphone, and can also annotate (doodle) on them. Then you can invite others to do the same.

WFU provides all students, faculty, and staff with Voicethread accounts. In this training we will discuss ways to use Voicethreads to enhance learning as well as how to create, share, and comment on them. Come to this training if you might be interested in using Voicethread to audio narrate a slide presentation for a class and invite questions, present a series of images and ask for comments, use it to collect pronunciation samples and give feedback for language teaching, have your students use it to turn in projects or presentations for peer assessment, or almost anything else you can think of.

We'll cover:

--Creating a VoiceThread

--Overview of the settings

--Commenting with text, file upload, phone, webcam, or microphone

--How to doodle while recording an audio or video comment

--Ideas for teaching and student projects

--Tips, FYIs and more information
