Supplemental Instruction (SI) is a peer-to-peer learning model that utilizes upperclassman to mentor peers taking a course from a specific instructor in both the affective and cognitive domains. The Chemistry Department has successfully implemented the SI model for all lower-division courses using chemistry majors. This session aims to introduce participants to the SI model and provide information on how the Chemistry department uses SI in the broader landscape of resources offered both by the department and by the LAC. Discussion about how this model can be used in other interested departments will be welcomed and encouraged. In addition, evidence for why SI targets a unique population of students will be presented, using data that has been collected by the Chemistry department over the last couple of years.
