As faculty, we strive to create significant learning experiences that help students master the knowledge and skills required for our courses. In doing so, we often think little about how students’ lives outside our classrooms impact their ability to achieve our expectations. This is particularly true when it comes to the effects of alcohol use and abuse. In this workshop, you will hear the facts and stories about alcohol use on Wake Forest’s campus. We’ll discuss why and how this culture of behavior is relevant to our classrooms, both in general and specifically this semester, and how we can develop actionable strategies to counter the detrimental impacts of alcohol use on student success in our classrooms.
