Dr. Gail H. Bretan

Brief Biography

Dr. Gail Bretan, Director of Jewish Life at WFU, is a community activist and educator who believes strongly in trans-generational, trans-denominational, and trans-epistemological connections.  She has an eclectic range of interests, experiences, careers, and education. 

Gail earned a PhD in Educational Studies (UNC-G), a master’s degree in Rehab Counseling (U of Arizona), and two bachelor’s degrees- Business Administration (Northwood U) and Elementary Education (Temple U). She has held positions in a variety of fields including rehabilitation and healthcare management, hospitality, business, Jewish education, and higher education.

 

Gail moved from Florida to the Triad in 2005. She is married 27 years and has two college-aged sons. Gail is an active and life-long volunteer, serving as the past-president of two different Hadassah groups.  She is active in her synagogue and has served on many boards and committees. At present, she sits on the Ethics Committee of Novant Health. She is captain of the team that is the three-time first-place winners of the annual Greensboro Scrabble Tournament.
