Reacting to the Past (RTTP) consists of elaborate simulation exercises, set in the past, in which students take on roles informed by primary texts; conduct research into their characters; and present their ideas through oral argument and extensive written work in the context of game play. RTTP methods have been used around the US in science, social sciences, and humanities courses. This panel will feature Wake faculty who have experience with this innovative method for reanimating and facilitating students' active engagement with historical issues and texts. Disciplines represented will include political science, history, classical languages, and art.
