Promoting Meaningful Classroom Participation
Thursday, February 4th, 2010
11:00am - 12:00pm
Leading a classroom discussion is an integral part of teaching, but often our efforts are met with students' blank stares, one-word responses, or awkward shifting in their seats. In this workshop we will discuss some common faculty concerns about leading a classroom discussion and introduce some strategies to encourage participation from even the most reticent students. There is no magic formula, but we will discuss a variety of approaches that can help promote meaningful classroom participation.
