Youth Employment Program

Human Resources is pleased to announce a newly enhanced 2013 Youth Employment Program (YEP).  Modeled after the Wake Fellows Program, this summer internship opportunity will provide valuable work experience and PDC classes offered throughout the summer that will be customized to meet the students’ needs.

The program continues to be open to dependents of full-time Wake Forest University Reynolda Campus faculty and staff who are a rising junior or senior in high school.  Due to the competitive nature of this program both hiring managers and dependents will need to submit applications.

Hiring Managers:  We are excited about the upcoming changes and offering the YEP participants a much more impactful and educational summer.  Because of these changes, the process for this year’s program is much more competitive for the hiring departments and for the dependents.  Please complete the following application to help us understand the student’s role in your department.  While we hope to fulfill the majority of the requests, there is no guarantee that your position will be accepted.  If your position is chosen, you will have the opportunity to be engaged in the hiring process. Please complete an application no later than Friday March 1.

Parents of Dependents:  This year’s program is a great opportunity to help prepare your child for the competitive workforce.  Interested students (who must be 16 years of age, a rising junior or senior in high school, and eligible to work in the United States) may apply online through the University Career Portal.  Internships will be posted on March 15 (descriptions will not be available before this date).  The application process will close as of March 31. Please note: a cover letter and resume are strongly encouraged.  To help your son/daughter prepare for this opportunity, the PDC is offering several afternoon and evening resume building classes.

Since the number of positions funded through this program is limited, no dependent is guaranteed placement in this program. Notifications will be sent out by April 30 regarding the acceptance into the program.
